What exactly does Nationwide Debt Reduction do?

Nationwide Debt Reduction is a debt settlement company. As such, we act as a third party negotiator between you and your creditors. When you sign up Nationwide's program, the first thing that will happen is you will be sent out a packet to complete and return to us. In your packet are two very important documents. The first one is called a Cease & Desist/Power of Attorney letter. This letter accomplishes two goals. The first thing this does is assist our counselors in getting creditor calls to stop. Approximately 50% of all of our clients have already fallen behind in their payments to their creditors when they sign up for our program. The creditors in turn may have started calling and in many case harassing our clients. This letter will help us in assisting you with getting those calls stopped. The Power-of-Attorney section of the letter allows our negotiators to act on your behalf when dealing with these creditors. Without this, creditors are not obligated to talk with us. Therefore, this is a very important letter.

The second letter is titled the "Letter of Authorization." This is somewhat of a compliment to the Power-of-Attorney letter in that it allows our representatives to again act on your behalf in the negotiation process. Your will sending in the latest statements from each of your creditors you have listed with you debt counselor. Upon receipt of these statements, we will then fax all of this paperwork directly to our contact at each of these credit card companies, letting them know that you are now enrolled in our program, and all future communication must go through us from this point forward. For most people struggling with debt, this is a true blessing, in that you no longer have to deal with these creditors again.
